Take a look at these recently released rehearsal photos from the new musical comedy Shucked. The show opens at the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre this summer from 10 May to 14 June 2025.
Shucked follows the story of Maizy and Beau who are getting hitched but things get hairy when the corn that protects their small community starts to die.
The musical features a country music style score written by Nashville-based composers Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally with a book by Robert Horn. It first opened on Broadway in 2023 and received nine Tony Award nominations including Best Musical.
The London premiere is set to star Sophie McShera (Downton Abbey) as Maizy, Ben Joyce (Back to the Future) as Beau, Georgina Onuorah (Oklahoma!) as Lulu, Keith Ramsay (The Play That Goes Wrong) as Peanut, Matthew Seadon-Young (The Baker’s Wife) as Gordy, Monique Ashe-Palmer (Standing at the Sky’s Edge) as Storyteller 1, Steven Webb (Here You Come Again!) as Storyteller 2, and Jonathan Andrew Hume (The Lion King) as Grandpa.
The company is completed by Taila Halford, Ross Harmon, Claudia Kariuki, Ying Ue Li, Tom Oliver, Gleanne Purcell-Brown, and Toyan Thomas-Browne; and the Swings are Jed Berry, Nathaniel Purnell, Rachel Rawlinson (and Dance Captain), and Mia Shelbourne.
