Following a sold-out run at the Donmar Warehouse late last year, Max Webster's adaptation of Shakespeare's Macbeth has announced a second run at the Harold Pinter this year.
With performances beginning on October 1st, and running until 14th December, Macbeth will star previous cast members David Tennant and Cush Jumbo as the infamous killing duo. In its previous run, Tennant was nominated for Best Actor at the 2024 Olivier Awards (his 3rd nomination following Lobby Hero and the 2023 revival Good.)
Macbeth, one of Shakespeare's most performed works, tells the story of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth and their insatiable hunger for power. With the paranoia of a prophecy to fulfil and a need to hold the thrown, the couple will do anything to take what they believe to be theirs.
This new production will utilise binaural technology in which the audience will wear headphones throughout the performance to create a world of 3D sound. This will be coupled with live Scottish folk music from Alasdair Macrae and band, along with vocals from Gaelic singer Kathleen MacInnes.
Full casting has been announced, with actor-musicians blended seamlessly into the cast. Onstage with Tennant and Jumbo, to tell the story of intimacy, jealousy, and notoriety will be the full company from its original run at the Donmar Warehouse: Moyo Akandé (Ross), Annie Grace (Gentlewoman), Brian James O’Sullivan (Donalbain), Casper Knopf (Macduff’s Son), Cal MacAninch (Banquo), Kathleen MacInnes (Ensemble), Alasdair Macrae (Ensemble), Rona Morison (Lady Macduff), Noof Ousellam (Macduff), Raffi Phillips (Macduff’s Son), Jatinder Singh Randhawa (Seytan), Ros Watt (Malcolm), and Benny Young (Duncan).
Macbeth will run at the Harold Pinter Theatre from October 1st. Tickets can be purchased here.
