At today’s D23 Exposition, Disney have announced that Frozen the Musical will soon hit their streaming platform Disney+.

Following in the footsteps of Tony, Olivier, and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Hamilton, which hit our screens during the 2020 lockdown, Frozen will be available to stream in 2025.

The musical has been playing at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane since 2021 and is set to close next month. Frozen tells the story of sisters Anna and Elsa, who must overcome their personal quarrels to save the town of Arundel in a way that only true family can.

Some critics, as happened when Hamilton was first released, have expressed concern for a live theatre show to close for the sake of streaming instead. However, as Hamilton proves, theatre can exist across mediums and, for a show that was already set to close, we're glad that Disney will still be sharing the magic of Arundel and Musical Theatre with many more young, inspired minds.

Frozen the Musical is playing at London's Theatre Royal Drury Lane until September 8th. Tickets are available here.
