Nick Mohammed, star of Ted Lasso, Taskmaster, and 8 Out of 10 Casts Does Countdown, will bring his famed character Mr Swallow to the West End stage this Christmas in A Christmas Carol (ish).
A Christmas Carol (ish) is a new take on Dickens' classic where Mr Swallow (as Scrooge (as Santa)) has cancelled Christmas and it's up to three ghosts to convince him to reinstate the festivities.
Also starring David Elms, Kieran Hodgson, and Martha Howe-Douglas, A Christmas Carol (ish) will run @sohoplace from 16th November to 31st December. The production was last seen in 2022 at the Soho Theatre.
The show will be directed by Matt Peover, with set and costume design by Fly Davis, choreography by Emily Holt, and lighting design by Richard Howell. Oliver Birch will provide music to be played by the London Musical Theatre Orchestra under the supervision of Freddie Tapner and musical direction by Honor Halford-Macleod.
In a statement, Mohammed said: “I can’t quite put into words how utterly thrilled I am to be finally plonking Mr Swallow on a West End stage – albeit in the guise of Scrooge in the guise of Santa Claus! Getting to put on an all-singing, all-dancing show like this has been a dream come true and I can’t wait for everyone who saw the development run at Soho Theatre to be positively startled by how much bigger and – mostly – madder it’s got!
“With so many versions of A Christmas Carol to choose from this festive season we can absolutely guarantee this is the only one where all the words, context and overall meaning has been altered to meet my very specific requirements. Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight!”
A Christmas Carol (ish) runs @sohoplace with tickets on sale from Wednesday.
